This edition marks a unique encounter between two of Mexico’s most iconic Day of the Dead traditions.
Xcaret, Riviera Maya, August 7, 2025. From October 30 to November 2, Xcaret Park will once again host the Festival of Life and Death Traditions, celebrating its 19th edition with an immersive and deeply meaningful experience. For 19 years, this gathering has paid tribute to the spiritual and cultural richness of the Mexican people, transforming the park into a unique setting where memory, art, and tradition intertwine.
For this edition, the state of Michoacán will be the guest of honor, bringing with it the “Fiesta de las Ánimas” (Festival of Souls)—a tradition originating around Lake Pátzcuaro that has profoundly influenced the modern-day understanding of the Day of the Dead in central Mexico. This tradition will engage in a dialogue with Janal Pixán, an ancestral ritual of the Maya people of the Yucatán Peninsula. It is a unique opportunity to experience two of Mexico’s most emblematic commemorations in a single location—a glimpse into the cultural melting pot our nation offers the world.

The Festival of Life and Death Traditions is part of Grupo Xcaret’s ongoing efforts to promote Mexico’s intangible cultural heritage, contributing to the preservation of a celebration recognized by UNESCO in 2008 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Over the course of four days, local, national, and international visitors will enjoy a unique experience that engages all the senses. The park will offer a diverse and enriching program:
Stage performances and live concerts for all ages
Visual art installations, rituals, and cultural workshops

Traditional cuisine prepared by Maya and Purépecha cooks, who will share flavors that tell the story of their peoples
Each year, the “Festival of Life and Death Traditions” renews itself without losing its essence; this is achieved through the participation of the bearers of ancient traditions, who represent the roots of our nation. “Day of the Dead at Xcaret is not just a show; it is a profound cultural experience rooted in our country’s collective memory, renewed each year by the living presence of those who carry on these traditions,” added Aguerrebere.
As part of the special programming, the festival will conclude on a high note on November 2nd with a highly anticipated concert by Los Ángeles Azules at Xcaret Park’s Gran Tlachco Forum. Admission to the concert requires a separate fee from the Festival of Life and Death Traditions ticket, with two entry options available:
A combination ticket, including access to both the festival and the concert
An exclusive “concert-only” ticket, allowing entry to the park one hour before the performance begins
