History

The project begins in 1985, when Architect Miguel Quintana Pali, along with the brothers Oscar, Marcos and Carlos Constandse, crystallized their dream of sharing the beauty of the underground rivers and cenotes discovered during the cleaning work on their property in Riviera Maya.

This dream became a reality called Xcaret, which opened in December 1990. Since then, this majestic seaside park is visited by an average of 1,000,000 people per year and has become the icon of the natural parks of the destination.

Xcaret park is made up of a wide jungle, three underground rivers, a cove, beaches and archaeological sites. Here visitors enjoy more than 50 natural attractions, as well as the most representative cultural manifestations of Mexico through dance, charrería, music and the presentation of Xcaret México Espectacular, with more than 300 artists on stage.

The park has five restaurants that provide service every day, in addition to various stages that are the ideal setting for groups.

As promoter of our traditions, in Xcaret park two special events are held each year: The Sacred Journey and the Festival of Life and Death Traditions. They involve nearby communities, society in general and tourist all over the world.

Among the multiple recognitions and distinctions that Xcaret park has received are the International Certification of Sustainable Tourism Earthcheck, the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor, the award for the Reproduction Program of the Scarlet Macaw and the Distinctive H in all our restaurants, for cleanliness and food hygiene.
