After four successful editions held in Madrid, this fifth occasion promises to surprise with a memorable celebration in the Spanish capital—a city to which the awards will return in 2027, thanks to a historic agreement that alternates the venue between Madrid and Xcaret Park in the Riviera Maya (Quintana Roo, Mexico).
Twenty-three awards honoring audiovisual productions and professionals, along with a yet-to-be-revealed Honorary PLATINO Award, will bring together the best of the Ibero-American star system for an unforgettable gala.
Madrid, January 29, 2025. – The PLATINO Awards return to Madrid for their twelfth edition. The premier accolades for Spanish- and Portuguese-language audiovisual works will take place on April 27 at the Palacio Municipal IFEMA Madrid, honoring the season’s best Ibero-American productions with 23 awards and an Honorary PLATINO Award.
This marks the fifth time the awards will be held in Madrid, following a successful eleventh edition at Xcaret Park in the Riviera Maya (Quintana Roo, Mexico), where Society of the Snow (La sociedad de la nieve) was named Best Feature Film and Barrabrava was named Best Series. The 12th PLATINO Awards continue their successful run in Madrid—a city that first hosted the event in 2017 and subsequently held three unforgettable galas in 2021, 2022, and 2023. In 2024, the awards resumed their itinerant nature by returning to the Riviera Maya—which also hosted the ceremony in 2018 and 2019 and is set to host again in 2026. This follows a historic agreement launched in 2024 to alternate host locations between the Community of Madrid and the state of Quintana Roo through 2027, the year the PLATINO Awards will return to the Spanish capital.
