Grupo Xcaret celebrates 24 consecutive years of receiving the ESR® distinction from Cemefi.

Xcaret, Riviera Maya, June 6, 2025. In 2025, Grupo Xcaret celebrates an achievement that goes beyond mere recognition: receiving the ESR® (Socially Responsible Company) Distinction for the 24th consecutive year, awarded by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Cemefi). This distinction validates the Group’s sustained and tangible commitment to social responsibility and offers an opportunity to showcase—through actual practice—a management style rooted in ethics, sustainability, and respect for people, culture, and the planet.

“At Grupo Xcaret, sustainability is not just another area of collaboration within the Group; it is our way of doing business, of creating sustainable tourism experiences, and of contributing to the country. We live this out in every park, hotel, and community with which we collaborate,” noted Miriam Alonso Pacheco, Deputy Director of Sustainability at Grupo Xcaret.

According to Cemefi data, only 1,065 large companies in Mexico obtained the ESR® Distinction this year. Of these, a mere 17 are located in Quintana Roo, and less than 1% have managed to maintain the distinction uninterrupted for over two decades.

Grupo Xcaret has been a pioneer in the tourism sector by embracing social responsibility as a core business model. Beyond simply appearing on a list, the true significance lies in having upheld this commitment continuously for 24 consecutive years.

The ESR® Distinction evaluation process relies on a comprehensive, independent methodology that assesses social, environmental, ethical, and governance indicators. All findings are validated through records that attest to the organization’s operational methods and the impact it generates. The Distinction also represents a link to Mexico’s cultural identity; the statuette features a design created using the traditional chaquira (beadwork) on wax technique from Campeche, crafted by the workshop of Master Artisan Perla Carrillo, a native of the Mezquitic community in Jalisco. “Since our inception, sustainability has been part of Grupo Xcaret’s unique management model, built day by day across every area of the Group. It is reflected in how we care for our environment, protect Mexico’s natural and cultural heritage, and generate shared prosperity alongside our communities, partners, and collaborators,” added Miriam Alonso.

In 2025, Grupo Xcaret reaffirms that being a Socially Responsible Company is not a goal that has simply been reached, but rather a living, constant, and shared commitment—one that honors respect for the integrity of people, culture, nature, and future generations. It does so with the same conviction that has guided its history from the very beginning: “making the planet happier by sharing a profound love for Mexico.”
