Grupo Xcaret to hire over 2,200 people in the next three months.
The workforce will grow by nearly 87% this year compared to 2019.
Job creation drives the region’s economic stability.
Xcaret, Riviera Maya, March 3, 2025. Amid a challenging global landscape, Grupo Xcaret announces the direct hiring of more than 2,200 new employees in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. This marks one of the most significant expansions in the national tourism sector and the most important one in the Riviera Maya.
By bringing on highly trained professionals, the Mexican company is not only increasing its workforce by nearly 87% compared to 2019—surpassing 17,000 direct employees—but also reinforcing its role as a leading employer in the tourism sector. This move indirectly impacts over 65,000 families associated with local, regional, and national suppliers. According to INEGI, Quintana Roo ended 2024 with an unemployment rate of 2.8%—one of the lowest in the country—reflecting the region’s current period of remarkable growth.
The impact of this initiative goes beyond the numbers: it signifies economic stability for thousands of families, boosts the local economy, and demonstrates a firm commitment to national talent. With this expansion, Grupo Xcaret upholds one of the principles championed by its founders—”shared prosperity”—ensuring that its growth benefits both its employees and the community at large.
“It is during the most challenging times that we must come together as Mexicans, each offering the very best of ourselves. Today, we are doing our part to foster shared prosperity,” said Mariana Ruiz Villalpando, Corporate Director of Human Talent at Grupo Xcaret.
The job openings will be concentrated in Playa del Carmen and span various strategic areas, including rooms division, food and beverage, maintenance, security, administration, and arts and culture. March and April will be the most intensive months of the recruitment process, aimed at bringing in highly qualified talent to contribute to the “evolution” of Hotel Xcaret México, which is set to open 900 additional rooms this summer.
Ruiz Villalpando added: “We are excited about the evolution of our Hotel Xcaret México—an initiative announced last October with an investment of over $700 million. We took the next step in November by restructuring the group, and now we are launching this new phase by hiring thousands of fellow Mexicans. We remain firmly committed to showcasing the best of Mexico to the world through the warmth, friendliness, and professionalism our team members offer our visitors and guests.”

At Grupo Xcaret, true growth goes beyond words and figures; it is measured by the opportunities created, the lives transformed, and the positive impact made on the community. With this expansion, the Group reaffirms its commitment to building a future where tourism drives well-being, fosters Mexican talent, and strengthens shared prosperity in Quintana Roo.
